Fantasy Map
A friend of mine was setting up a Dungeons & Dragons adventure and was writing a world of his own. When I saw the map he had made I made it my quest to improve it.
The first step of this process was to determine how I would randomize the landmasses´ looks. I wanted them to still resemble what the original shape was. At that time I only knew about one technique which is to throw some dried beans out on a paper and make a outline around them and that will be the shores but since I wanted this to be a digital project this wasn’t an option. Instead I found a website that display how tectonic plates move and form. So to create my landmasses I took a screenshot every time the website created a landmass that was similar to the original map.
The map might look a bit empty between places and continents, but this was done on request of my friend. He had an idea that after the players have roleplayed in the world for some time he wanted there to be space to draw in references and small pictures of their adventures.
The decorations around the map were based on the lore and stories that was written about the world. The land of Xaoc is blank since its supposed to be unexplored lands.
